India beats Srilanka to take a 2-1 lead in ODI Series

India Vs Srilanka
India beat Sri Lanka comprehensively by seven wickets in Cuttack with 44 balls to spare. With this emphatic victory, India now lead the five-match series 2-1.

India’s chase was a perfect instance of the team rallying around the master. Sachin Tendulkar’s sublime unbeaten knock of 96 was aided by small but important cameos by Sehwag (44), Gambhir (32), Yuvraj (23) and Karthik (36). But it was Ravindra Jadeja who laid the foundation for a huge victory as he contributed significantly in reducing a once rampaging Sri Lanka to a modest 239. He was hence, rightly awarded with the player of the match prize.

The youngster bowled splendidly well to finish with 4 for 32 in 10 overs. He rustled up some unplayable beauties and kept the pressure with his nagging line and length.

The Sri Lankan innings had two contrasting halves. The first belonged to the batsmen, who went on rampage and carted bowlers with as much ease as disdain. But the second half, bowlers came roaring back. Result: From 165 for one after 22 overs, Sri Lanka plunged to 239 all out inside 45 overs.
