Virat Kohli and Gambhir leads India to a series win against Srilanka

With one match to spare, India registered a comprehensive victory against Srilanka at Eden Gardens. India now have an unbeatable lead of 3-1 in the ODI series with one match to go. It was Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir who were the heroes tonight for this emphatic victory.

With a huge target to chase and early wickets of Virendar Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Gambhir took the responsibility to guide India to a victory with a very sensible display of batting. Gambhir scored his career best 150 not out whereas Kohli smashed 107, his maiden ODI century.

Earlier today, Srilankan opener Upul Tharanga smashed a brilliant 118 to steer Srilanka to a challenging total of 315. But with the brilliant batting effort of Gambhir and Kohli, Indian team hardly felt the absence of Dhoni and Yuvraj. Their third wicket partnership of 224 helped India chase the imposing 316 for victory with 11 balls to spare. The last ODI will be played at Delhi this Sunday.
