India vs Srilanka Warm Up Match - ICC Champions Trophy 2013

India vs Srilanka Warm Up Match

Update - India beats Srilanka

India takes on Srilanka for their first warm up match before they kick off their Champions trophy campaign against South Africa on 6th June. Star Cricket (in English) and Star Sports 2 (in Hindi) will telecast live match in India. So cricket fans now can also enjoy the exciting warm up matches.

It has been considerably a long time since India or Srilanka played a 50 over match. It was way back in January when India played a 50 over series against England at home. Meanwhile Srilanka played their last 50 over match against Bangladesh in March. Since then most of the big players have been featured in the Indian Premier League which just ended a few days ago.

This being the last ever edition of Champions League, all the teams including Srilanka and India are all geared up for a spirited performance. India has reached the finals twice, once lost against New Zealand and the other time shared the trophy with Srilanka. This edition serves both these teams their last chance to win the trophy.

India as a team has won T20 world cup and ODI world cup under the captaincy of Dhoni. If India wins this trophy, that would be another feather in Dhoni's hat! Meanwhile Srilanka has finished as runners up in a lot of recent ICC events. They would be craving to lift one trophy now.

The subcontinent teams will take a bit more time to get used to the playing conditions in England. Unfortunately first warm up match of Srilanka against Pakistan was washed out yesterday. They have still two more warm up matches and so does India have two. So overall teams have got enough match practice this time. Let us hope for a tight contest today here at Birmingham.
