England takes on South Africa in Champions Trophy Semi Final

England vs South Africa

Result - England wins and enters the finals

England one of the strongest teams in this ICC Champions Trophy takes on another strong team South Africa in the first semi finals. While we write a preview for this match, it has already begun and South Africa seems to be stabilising the innings after losing two early wickets of Amla and Ingram. Anderson and Finn made good use of the early seam movement and sent Ingram and Amla back to pavilion. South Africa would look to strengthen the innings and post a score above 225. Star Cricket and Star Sports 2 TV channels are telecasting the match live in India.

England won the toss and elected to bowl first. AB de Villiers said that if they look at the stats even South Africa would have liked to ball first but somehow he is happy to bat first and put a good score on the board. Dale Steyn was declared unfit for today's match. His absence along with the absence of Smith, Kallis and Morne Morkel is already hurting the team's performance.

A lot was expected from Amla today but he went back to pavilion without troubling the scorers much. Anderson again proved to be one the best quick bowlers in world cricket when he clinched Ingram's wicket plumbed in front of the stumps. Tim Bresnan, the England all rounder isn't playing today. Tredwell gets an opportunity in his place. Broad who has been expensive so far in this competition seems to be in good rhythm today with his bowling.

Although England has a strong batting line up but pressure of playing in a semi final is completely different. So they need to make sure that they capitalise on the good start they got from their bowlers. Any score above 250 would be hard to chase against a quality bowling and fielding side like South Africa.

The winner of this match plays in the finals against the winner of second semi final which will be played tomorrow. India will take on Srilanka in second semi final. That would be another exciting match as these two were also the 2011 World Cup finalists.

South Africa would love to win this one and also lift the trophy and get rid of the chokers label. England would love to win this trophy as they haven't been too successful in ICC events (just like South Africa). Let us hope for a cliff hanger today between these two teams.
