England vs New Zealand ICC Champions Trophy Match

England vs New Zealand

Result: England beats New Zealand and qualifies for the semis.

Although New Zealand rests comfortably at the top of points tally in Group A, they very well know that if they lose today against England and if Srilanka beats Australia in the last match, they could be eliminated from the Champions Trophy. So indirectly this is not only a do or die match for England but also for New Zealand! Even if today's loss for New Zealand is followed by Australia's win over Srilanka with a big margin; they could be eliminated. So that comfort on the top can be short lived and hence a win here can secure a semis berth for New Zealand.

Similar is the case for England. They had a thumping victory over Australia but their disappointing bowling led them to a defeat against Srilanka and now they are in a must win situation today. Rain has played a spoil sport in last two games. While West Indies game ended up as a nightmare for them against South Africa, India's match against Pakistan got a result in favour of one team - again thanks to the Duckworth Lewis method we all feel confused about.

There are chances of rain interruptions today. All cricket fans want is full cricket matches and fair results in the end. England has a strong batting line up and home advantage. If Cook, Bell and Trott can convert their starts into big ones, they can again post a big total. Bopara and Bresnan can hit some big ones in the middle order to accelerate the innings.

Anderson, Broad, Bresnan and the whole pace battery needs to be more careful this time. They were criticised for not bowling yorkers against Srilankans. Anderson has a lot of swing in his bowling and he can be vital in today's match. If we talk about New Zealand bowling line up, they have Mills and McClenaghan who can trouble the top order of England. If Vettori plays he will add a lot of quality to the spin department. Nathan can bowl some part timers and provide breakthroughs.

New Zealand batting hasn't been upto the mark. Nathan McCullum has been good in patches. The man who smashed a lot of runs in ODI series against England, Guptill hasn't been impressive so far. Similar is the case of Ross Taylor. They all need to click in tandem along with the skipper Brandon McCullum who is due for a big knock.

Sit back, relax and enjoy your Sunday with an exciting Group A match today. And don't forget to pray that we have a full match today!
