India vs England

Result Update - India won the Champions Trophy 2013

ICC Champions Trophy 2013 Final is here and it will be telecasted on TV live on Star Cricket, Star Sports 2 and Star Cricket HD in India. Let us preview the exciting thriller we all are going to enjoy today.

India's path to finals:
Defeated Srilanka in Warm up
Defeated Australia in Warm up
Defeated South Africa by 26 runs
Defeated West Indies by 8 wickets (10.5 overs remaining)
Defeated Pakistan by 8 wickets
Defeated Srilanka in the semi finals by 8 wickets

All the wins for India have been comprehensive and above all, they lost none! They are easily the best team in this tournament. Not to forget India are the ODI world champions and very recently won the ICC ODI championship mace for being on top of ICC ODI rankings in last one year.

Shikhar Dhawan is in exceptional form and he has amassed 332 runs in four innings. He hit two centuries with a highest score of 114 runs. His strike rate is 99.40 and average of more than 110! That is purely exceptional and he doesn't look stopping. If he stays on the crease even till the 15th over, he will lay a strong foundation for India's innings. The second best player for India has been Ravindra Jadeja. With his all round performances he has won matches here. He batted once and scored 47 not out. He has troubled the opposition more with his bowling. He has ten wickets to his name with best bowling figures of 5 for 36 runs. Although he is a part timer but his bowling definitely provides India the much needed breakthroughs.

Even Ishant Sharma has picked up 8 wickets and also the man of the match award in the semi finals. Umesh Yadav can do a good job with is raw pace. On the other hand, even Kohli, Rohit and Karthik are doing pretty well with the bat. Dhoni and Raina haven't got too many chances to bat but they are good finishers.

England's path to the finals:
Defeated Australia by 48 runs
Lost against Srilanka by 7 wickets
Defeated New Zealand by 10 runs
Defeated South Africa by 7 wickets

England have been a strong outfit sans their one loss against Srilanka. They could easily be the toughest competitors to India. Their bowling has been very good thanks to James Anderson. He has picked 10 wickets in 33 overs with an economy rate of as low as 3.8! If he can bowl well against strong top order of India, that could invite trouble to the world champions.

Trott has been the highest run scorer for England with 209 runs at an average of 70! Joe Root will be an exciting factor today with his improvisation. He has scored 166 runs at an average of 42. Captain Cook has scored 159 runs and he is due for a good knock.

Overall this promises to be a big match with two good teams battling it out for the title. Let us hope that the rain God stays away and provide us a full match!
