India vs South Africa - Champions Trophy 2013 Cricket Match

India vs South Africa Group B match

The warm up matches have brought a lot of success for the World Champions India. They take on the most consistent cricket team in last five years viz. South Africa in the opening match of ICC Champions Trophy 2013! What a start to the tournament! One of the two biggest ODI teams clash to embark on the last ever edition of Champions Trophy which we all also call as the 'Mini World Cup'. Just to inform the Indian cricket fans, this as well as all the Champions Trophy matches would be telecasted live on Star Cricket, Star Sports 2 and Star Cricket HD.

India has topped the ICC ODI rankings this year to win a huge prize money as well as the prestigious ICC Shield for ODI champions. India also wont he 2011 World Cup and seems to be in good form. They played their first warm up match against Srilanka. Bowlers looked below average as they gave away 333 runs to the Srilankans. But the Indian batsmen made it look so easy, they chased the mammoth total in 49 overs with 5 wickets to spare. Kohli scored 140 plus whereas Karthik scored a quick century.

India played its second warm up match against the tough Australian team. But this was a purely one-sided affair where India after struggling on 55 for 5 scored 308; thanks to a big 140 plus innings from Karthik and 91 runs from skipper Dhoni. Australia in return scored a dismal 65 runs all out. This was one of the biggest defeats of Australia in the ODI history. A lot of things need to fall in place for Australia before they face England for the Ashes later this year.

South Africa played their last warm up match against Pakistan and were comprehensively beaten. The African team is led by super batsman and wicket keeper AB de Villiers. The batting line up looks very strong in presence of skipper and other batsmen like Amla, du Plessis and David Miller. We can't forget the likes of Duminy and Petersen who can turn tables on the opposition.

The bowling is led by Dale Steyn who is easily the best fast bowler in current cricket world. He has a good company of quality fast bowlers like Tsotsobe and Morne Morkel. Even India would bank on Umesh Yadav who bowled brilliantly against the Australians. India also have good bowlers like Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra and many more to name.

With two equally strong teams facing off in the tournament opener, this promises to be an exciting Champions Trophy ahead.
