India vs Srilanka - The Big Semi Final

India vs Srilanka

Result - India won and will face England in the grand final.

India meets Srilanka yet again in a cricket match but this time its a big one. This is the semi final of ICC Champions Trophy. These two teams have played so many matches against each other in last few years that they know each other's strengths and weaknesses. So we can expect a tight contest here at the Sophia Gardens. Star Cricket and Star Sports 2 continues to provide live telecast of Champions Trophy matches on TV in India.

Last time these two teams met in the warm up match where Srilanka scored a mammoth 333 runs and India chased it easily with six balls to spare. India have had an upper hand against Srilanka in last couple of years. No one can forget the 2011 world cup final held between these two teams where India came up with a comprehensive win to be crowned as World Champions.

India have played like world champions winning both warm up matches (against Srilanka and Australia) and all three group fixtures (against West Indies, Pakistan and South Africa). England has already qualified for the finals after beating South Africa in the semi finals. So winner between India and Srilanka face a tough task ahead of beating the home team England.

Shikhar Dhawan is in excellent form. He has scored two centuries in this Champions Trophy. His hunger for runs is very evident. He looks unstoppable at this moment. Similarly Ravindra Jadeja is in great form both with bat and ball. A lot is expected from the bowlers like Umesh Yadav, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma, R Ashwin and company. Even the batting line up looks good with in form batsmen Rohit Sharma, Karthik, Kohli, Dhawan, Dhoni, etc.

Srilanka had a shaky start to the Champions Trophy. They lost to India and West Indies in the warm ups. They started Champions Trophy group campaign with a loss against New Zealand. Then they had no other option but to give their best in a do or die match against England. There they fought hard to chase a target of 295. The win against England acted as a confidence booster for them and they also managed a win against Australia to make a berth in the semis.

Srilanka has a good bowling line up consisting of Malinga, Herath, Kulasekara, Mathews, Dilshan, etc. Even the batting line up is star studded with Chandimal, Dilshan, Jayawardene, Sangakkara, Perera, etc. The only thing that lacks in consistency here. So that would be the key for the Srilankans if they have to win against the strongest side in this competition viz. India.
