New Zealand vs Australia ICC Champions Trophy 2013 Cricket Match

New Zealand vs Australia

Result Update - Match abandoned due to rain

Group A toppers New Zealand lock horns with Australia at Edgbaston, Birmingham. New Zealand is not through to the semis but still in a comfortable situation with one win over Srilanka whereas Australia is almost in a do or die kind of situation now. The world is watching Champions Trophy live online and on TV. Indian cricket fans can enjoy live TV telecast of these matches in English on Star Cricket & Star Cricket HD whereas Hindi commentary is available on Star Sports 2 TV channel.

New Zealand have been in England for a while now. They are in a better state of mind with an ODI series win against England followed by a narrow win over Srilanka that gave them two points. Hence they would play with less pressure against Australia. Although their batsmen couldn't play as good as they batted against England in the ODI series, but they weren't chasing a very big total against Srilanka either. This may not be the case against Australia. Hence the New Zealand batsmen need to score better this time if they have to win.

Guptill is in sparkling form and a big knock is awaited from him. Similar feat is expected from Ross Taylor and the McCullum brothers. Mills opens the bowling and is consistently clinching wickets. Young McClenaghan is doing a great job with the ball. Vettori seems unfit for the game whereas Nathan McCullum would be all set to produce another good performance for his team.

Australia has a lot of issues with the batting line up. Although the batting department has highly potential batsmen, most of them failed in the match against England. The team is missing the experience of Michael Clarke. Good scores are expected from Watson, Warner, Bailey, Voges and Voges. Johnson is in good form with the ball but he is inconsistent. Faulkner and McKay are impressive so far and it is likely that we see a spinner in the Australian XI tomorrow.
