South Africa vs Pakistan - Champions Trophy 2013 Cricket Match

South Africa vs Pakistan

Result - South Africa won by 67 runs

Indian cricket fans must be surely enjoying the Star Cricket and Star Sports 2 channels' live telecast of Champions Trophy matches. It is always good to be back to the ODIs after a long T20 season here. And one must have certainly enjoyed quality bowling and batting witnessed in all the four matches played so far! It is time for another Group B match South Africa vs Pakistan. And you know this is a really big match? Because both these teams are nearly in a do or die situation now!

Pakistan having lost their first match to the West Indies and South Africa to India; they both need to win one to stay in the race to the semi finals. West Indies is at the top of Group B table with one win and India on second with lesser net run rate with one win.

Pakistan came up as clear winners in the warm up match against South Africa. So Pakistan would be confident facing the same opposition again. On the other hand South Africans are quick learners and they would come up with some different plans altogether.

A dismal batting performance by Pakistan resulted in a 171 run target for West Indies. It wasn't an easy win for West Indies though as bowlers like Mohammad Irfan and Saeed Ajmal gave a real tough time to the West Indies batsman. The only Pakistani batsman who made a mark in that match was skipper Misbah. He scored 96 runs and stayed unbeaten till the end.

South Africa on the other hand overall had a good match against India. Although they lost the match but they managed to score good. AB de Villiers and Peterson shared a partnership of 124 runs which could have taken them to a victory in that match which they lost by 26 runs. Ryan McLaren came in handy with the bat apart from his exceptional bowling performance.

Morne Morkel bowled some six overs and then he was declared out of the tournament due to a quad strain. This came as a big blow for the team which is already running short of experienced players like Smith and Kallis. Hopefully Steyn would be fully fit for this match and he will also be well supported by Chris Morris who had a good IPL season.

Saeed Ajmal can have a good day as South Africans are weak when they face spinners. AB de Villiers will again have to play a major role against Pakistan with his bat. The pitch here at Birmingham very likely would support the batsmen. So we can expect good runs and probably some quality bowling would make the match more interesting. Stay tune and keep loving this great game of cricket.
