Srilanka vs England ICC Champions Trophy 2013 Match

Srilanka vs England

Result Update - Srilanka won by 7 wickets

While everything was going good in this Champions Trophy, the only thing cricket fans didn't want was a rain interuption which spoiled the game between New Zealand and Australia. But there had to be something good behind this. These teams shared one point each and it would make things more interesting in Group A. One point shared by teams like Australia and New Zealand will increase the contest for the semis amongst England and Srilanka also. While Indian fans wait for their next big match against Pakistan, they can also enjoy Srilanka vs England live TV telecast on Star Cricket in India.

England and Srilanka have made opposite starts in Champions Trophy 2013. England defeated defending champs Australia by a comprehensive margin of 48 runs. Meanwhile Srilanka lost by just one wicket to New Zealand in a match which could be termed as an absolute nail biter! Probably one of the best low scoring games you would ever see.

Just like India, even England is a really strong team and could be considered as favourites as India! England has a long batting line up and an excellent bowling line up too. The English playing conditions are considered to be hard for the touring teams. But Indian batsmen are scoring runs as if they are batting on a subcontinent pitch. Similarly England batsmen are comfortable and scoring good runs here - thanks to the home advantage.

Ian Bell is in sparkling form. Trott and Bopara too are highly impressive with bat. Alastair Cook needs to convert his starts into big ones. Talking about their bowling line up, its star studded with Anderson, Broad, Tredwell, Bresnan and Finch. Swann might not play today as he is recovering from an injury.

Srilankan batsmen are struggling to score runs sans their big score against India in the warm up match which also ended up in favour of India. Apart from Sangakkara we saw all the other batsmen struggling against New Zealand. Chandimal, Dilshan, Jayawardene, Kusal and Thisara Perera have to score runs if they have to win. Bowling looks decent in presence of Malinga, Mendis, Perera, Mathews and part timer like Dilshan.

Let us hope rain doesn't daunt today's play and we enjoy a full match which hopefully turns out to be another nail biter!
