Ind vs WI 1st Test

Let us get back to the basics. Time for some test cricket. India vs West Indies 2013 test series kicks off at the Eden Gardens from 6th November. This will be one of the greatest test series ever played in India as Sachin Tendulkar will bid farewell to the cricket world after the second test match. He has already played 198 test matches and these two test matches will take him to 200th test mark before he retires. Indian cricket fans would not afford to miss even a single moment of this test series. ESPN, Star Cricket and Star Sports will telecast the matches live on TV in India. Also India vs West India live streaming online can be enjoyed on Star Sports website in India.

West Indies will play two tests and three ODI matches. Click here to know the complete schedule of this cricket series. The test squads for both the teams have been declared. It seems India has picked players keeping in mind the forthcoming 2015 World Cup. They haven't considered the likes of Sehwag, Zaheer and Harbhajan. The speculations were strong that Zaheer will make a comeback but now it almost seems curtains on his career as well.

The Indian squad for the test series is as follows:
MS Dhoni (C), Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Sachin Tendulkar, Ajinkya Rahane, R Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Pragyan Ojha, Amit Mishra

Ravindra Jadeja was dropped due to shoulder strain. Suresh Raina had to make way for in form hard hitting batsman Shikhar Dhawan. Umesh Yadav returns to the side after few months whereas the selectors have shown strong faith in Ishant Sharma.

Meanwhile West Indies squad for the test series is as follows:
D Sammy (C), Walton, D Bravo, D Ramdin, C Gayle, K Edwards, N Deonarine, K Roach, K Powell, M Samuels, V Permaul, S Shillingford, S Chanderpaul, T Best, S Cotterell

Indians can't take the West Indies team lightly as they have full potential to create upsets in this series. With the likes of Chanderpaul, Gayle, Sammy, etc this team can post a threat to the home team.

In a head to head comparison, India has won 14 matches out of total 88 test matches against West Indies. 30 matches went the West Indies way. 44 ended in no result.

The great ground of Kolkata has hosted 38 test matches out of which 19 ended in no result. 11 matches were won by team batting first and 8 were won by team batting second. West Indies is unbeaten in their last five test matches whereas India has managed to win four out of five.
