India vs New Zealand ODI Series

After a disappointing tour to South Africa, India now travels to New Zealand for another cricket series. It has been a long time since we saw India playing in New Zealand. We have covered couple of posts for this series which includes schedule information as well as India vs New Zealand cricket records. Please check! Meanwhile another information for the cricket fans in India - this cricket series be available live on TV in India on Sony Six channel.

Getting back to the ODI series which also kicks off the whole series that includes five ODIs and two test matches. All the five ODIs would be day and night encounters and they would begin somewhere around 6:30am Indian Standard Time. The test matches would start too early at around 3am in India.

Indian team has suffered a setback against South Africa where they lost the ODI series miserably and couldn't win the test series as well. Notably only two test matches have been won away by any team in 2013 and those wins came against Zimbabwe. This could be a relieving fact for India that no other cricketing giants have performed well abroad in test cricket but now its time for them to pull up their socks and do well against the Black Caps.

A lot depends on how Virat Kohli performs in New Zealand. He has proved his caliber not only on flat tracks in India but also on bouncy pitches of South Africa and even Australia. New Zealand pitches would offer equal trouble to the Indian batsmen. So let us see how they could tackle the bounce and pace.

Shikhar Dhawan entered the cricket scene with loads of runs. He failed in South Africa and was later criticised as a flat track bully. He has to prove his point by scoring good runs on bouncy pitches. Similar is the case of Rohit Sharma who accumulated lot of runs in India but couldn't do well in South Africa.

MS Dhoni has been consistently well with his bat all over the globe. He promises to score well in New Zealand. Hopefully Suresh Raina can grab back his lost form. Pujara has been a gem for Indian test cricket who somehow promises to fill in the gap of Rahul Dravid.

Zaheer Khan will surely enjoy the bowling friendly conditions in New Zealand. So would Ishant Sharma and other Indian pacers. Spinners Ashwin and Jadeja can come in handy with their breakthroughs.

Other suprises in the Indian squad came with exclusion of Yuvraj Singh who looked out of form in ODIs. Ishwar Pandey and Stuart Binny got their debut chance for the India vs New Zealand 2014 ODI series. Varun Aaron has made his comeback replacing Mohit Sharma. The test squad was almost untouched with just one change - Ishwar replaced Ojha.
